My name is Rebecca Barajas and I am the Amsterdam School Librarian. I have been at Amsterdam School since 2001 and hope to stay here until the end of my library career.
I would like to tell you the story of why I became a librarian:
When I was in elementary we learned to read by listening to other students in my class read the same sentence over and over again. I never really learned to read until I was in third grade. My third grade teaher, Mrs. Freeman, noticed that I wasn't reading the way I was supposed to be reading and began to give me extra help. Mrs. Freeman opened up a new and exciting world to me. I become an avid reader and now surround myself with books.
My favorite things are my children, books, coffee, the color purple and hugs!
I hope to see you in the library.
