The annual Halloween Parade and class parties will be held on Monday, October 31st.  The parade will begin at 9:00.  All children may come to school in costume. It is suggested that students bring a bag to school with their name on it to put costume pieces that may interfere with learning throughout the day.

The parade will be held outside, weather permitting, in our front parking lot.  Our parking lot will be closed off for parent parking.  Please park along Amsterdam Drive or in the tennis court parking lot. Parents are welcome to come and watch the parade. We asked that adults viewing the parade not approached or stop children to take a picture or chat.   Taking photos and waving from the sidelines is fine. We cannot supervise the children appropriately if adults mingle in with the parade line. Thank you for your co-operation.

Class parties will begin directly after the parade. This party will be a craft only party – no food, please. For the safety and comfort of all students, only class parents and photographers, please, at the parties.  We ask that class parents only use the front door to enter the building and sign in. All other parents proceed directly to the outside parade viewing area.

  • Please note:  As you and your child plan this year’s Halloween costume, please remember our practice of asking students to refrain from dressing in costumes that are unduly gory, revealing or suggest any form of violence.  The costumes should be modest. Toy guns’/toy weapons are not permitted.
  • A special word with regard to “clown costumes.”  We are all aware of the recent national and regional news reports, rumors and social media buzz with regard to individuals or suspicions of individuals in menacing clown outfits.  This has created an environment of heightened anxieties among many students and families.  We recognize that it can be difficult to discern what may be genuinely threatening behavior from what is merely pranksters or Halloween fun.  Given these tensions, and in consultation with Hillsborough Township Police, it is our recommendation to discourage adults from wearing clown costumes this season to avoid any possible misunderstandings or confusion.  While there is no official ban on such costumes, in the interest of public safety for all our students and the community, we ask for your co-operation in this matter.

Ms. Sestokas’ and Mrs. Pugnet’s PM Kindergarten students who wish to participate in the school-wide Halloween parade on Friday are asked to join her in the classroom at 8:50 a.m. in costume.  Ms. Sestokas’ and Mrs. Pugnet’s PM students will walk with their AM class in the parade.  PM Kindergarten parents should pick up their child in the classroom immediately following the parade. PM Kindergarten will have their party in the afternoon.

In an on-going effort to assure the safety and security of our school, I want to inform parents that no adult in costume with a mask will be allowed to enter the building.  If you plan to come to the parade in costume, as some parents do, you must remove your mask so we know who you are!  Thank you for your anticipated cooperation with this.

As a reminder, we hope that you and your child have decided on a costume that is safe and non-violent. Please keep a close eye on your children’s Trick-or-Treating and their “treats.”  The safety and well-being of all of our students are a priority.

We hope to see you on October 31. Here comes Halloween!
